  • Biography/Contact Information

While living in Arizona and lacking formal art school training, Laurie first attended classes at the  Scottsdale Artists’ School.  She  continued her studies through the school with workshops by Skip Whitcomb, Matt  Smith, John Budicin, George Strickland, and David Leffel.  She continues to paint with professionals in the Carmel  area.

Laurie’s  childhood in Carmel Valley, where she rode horses and worked cattle, included
significant exposure to the old ranching families and traditions of early
California.  She has spent many years raising a herd of Black Angus cattle in Carmel Valley.  Since 2012, a portion of these cattle  are utilized as pasture-raised beef.  Laurie also raises, trains, and shows  American Quarter Horses in stock horse venues.   Laurie is a member of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, American Quarter Horse Association,  National Reined Cow Horse Association,  and SAG/AFTRA.

It  was while living in Flagstaff several years ago that Laurie began to appreciate
the work of Maynard Dixon and other artists that depicted the southwest.
This created the impulse for her to  paint.  Being that life is more
interesting than fiction, Laurie met and befriended Daniel Dixon in Carmel.
